"There is no knowledge equal to Sāṃkhya. There is no power equal to Yoga.
Both walk the same path — and both lead to the same end."
What is the most EPIC thing you have witnessed in this world? A giant monument. The unfathomable ocean. The welkin above . The vast sky strewn with stars beyond counting.
The Mahābhārata of Bhagawān Kṛṣṇa Dvaipāyana Vyāsa is even such.
The Sun shines mutely. Mutely does the earth bear. Even so is the Mahābhārata: silently sustaining, carrying forward, protecting the very heart of the Veda-s — even as it is reduced to a moral science book or a blend of fiction.
Yoga is often treated as an independent science. And yet, we fail to reach the other shore that Yoga talks about.
Many take refuge in monasticism or abstinence. However, separating the senses like tongue from its corresponding object like the taste of berries, doesn't achieve true renunciation.
Why?
Because the connection between the Senses and their corresponding objects is intrinsic and inseparable. It is the very nature of existence. Mere physical separation does not achieve anything.
How does one achieve Yoga if that be the case?
That is why Sāṃkhya and Yoga are said to be a pair. Yoga without the understanding of Sāṃkhya is impossible.
The Bhagavad Gītā exists for this very reason — to remove the doubts of Arjuna through Sāṃkhya, and through that clarity, make Yoga possible. Not through other means.
This Sāṃkhya-Yoga of the Mahābhārata is NOT the same as the classical Sāṃkhya of Īśvarakṛṣṇa, NOR is it the same as Pātañjala Yoga.
However, this Samkhya-Yoga of the Mahabharata is EXACTLY SAME as the Upanishads such as the Katha Upanishad.
It is my endeavor to bring out the Sāṃkhya-Yoga essence from the ocean of the Mahabharata. You can get a glimpse of my work from my blogs and videos. Links given below:
You will find nuggets of wisdom in the Mahabharata in the most unlikeliest of the places, and once you begin your journey into the Mahabharata, it's like a thick forest where you will get lost, trying to read up on something else, while you had been searching something entirely different.
It is my cherished goal to do a thorough study and analysis of the Mahabharata and bring out the true intent of it — The Sāṃkhya-Yoga perspective.
